Introduction

Atlantic International Online School embarked on a fast-paced website development project to meet the impending student enrollment period.

The project's goal was to create a robust online platform, starting with a landing page and gradually expanding it into a fully-fledged website.

To align with the school's brand identity, a visually modern and bold approach was adopted, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Recognizing the significance of mobile accessibility, the website was designed with a mobile-first logic, anticipating that a majority of users would access it via smartphones, following the social media pipeline.

The project embraced the IDEO Framework, leveraging its iterative design process.

However, with a focus on efficiency and dynamism, the IDEO process was reinitiated in each webpage iteration (three in total), optimizing the website's development.

Personas

With the help of the Pedagogical partners of Atlantic International Online School and taking into account the target audience of the school, two personas were created, a parent and a Student.

Competitive Analysis

In our competitive analysis for the Atlantic International Online School website, we examined several key players in the online education sector.

Crimson Global Academy

Australian-based online school offering American and British curriculum, stands out for its modern visual appeal and user-friendly enrollment process. However, it should be noted that the website tends to overwhelm visitors with an abundance of information.

King’s InterHigh

Inspired Group Online School with British and IBDP programs, excels in highlighting its success stories and detailed programs. Nevertheless, it may benefit from a visual refresh as its design appears somewhat dated, and its content is text-heavy.

Brave Generation

Portuguese-based online school, impresses with its bold and innovative communication and visuals, emphasizing student experiences and uniqueness. Yet, there is room for improvement in terms of site navigation and the potential monotony of its monochrome visual palette.

These insights from competitors provide valuable guidance as we strive to enhance the Atlantic International Online School website's design and user experience.

Moodboard

The moodboard, inspired by key concepts such as modern, simple, dreamy, and journey, played a pivotal role in establishing the visual identity of the website, making it an essential element in our design process.

It served as a creative foundation for our design vision.

Three Sitemaps were developed for each Website iteration, one for the Landing Page, one for the main website, and one for the Webinar Page.

Prototype

The first Landing Page prototype was developed while the brand identity was still in the works, for that reason, in the first iteration the focus was the structure and not the visuals.

Website Analytics

Our website analytics paint an intriguing picture of Atlantic International Online School's online presence.

In the first 30 days post-launch, we observed a substantial 13,000 page-views and an average session duration of 3 minutes and 18 seconds, indicating strong user engagement. However, the average pages per session, standing at 1.7 pages, suggests that our information-rich pages might sometimes overwhelm users, leading them to bounce off or navigate directly to the enrolment form.

Interestingly, the enrolment page ranked as the second most-accessed page, aligning with this user behavior.

While the number of leads generated may not directly correspond to enrolment page visits, the complexity of the enrolment form could be a factor.

Additionally, the low lead-to-page-views ratio (0.2 leads per 100 page-views) might be attributed to the school's recent establishment, potential capturing of non-target audiences through social media, or competition in the online education landscape.

Notably, our website's release coincided with increased marketing efforts from direct competitors, suggesting a promising start for Atlantic International Online School's online presence in a competitive environment.
